**Unfortunately Trello changed their service in a way this no longer functions – I hope it was helpful to people over all this time**
Trello is amazing tool for co-ordination, planning and collaboration with the ability to assign cards, create due dates and checklists and also attach files. I have often found myself wanting to download all of the files associated with a card but have not found an easy way to do this without manually clicking and downloading on each one.
To simplify this I’ve created an online attachment downloading tool that you can export your card information to and it will create a single zip file of all attachments on the card:
This is truly amazing and works splendidly! Very easy to use as well, which is helpful for less tech-savvy people.
This is a really great tool. Simple and direct. Really really appreciate it thanks! Please do drop me a line, as I would like to connect with you professionally.
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I have a client that has uploaded a ton of files to the their Trello board and now I realized it was going to be a PITA to click each one. So I went Googling and was finding coding instructions that are way above my level.
This made it sooo easy!
Thank you again!
This is amazing!! I’ve just tried it and it works 🙂 thank you so much! You have saved me so much time and effort from downloading 282 attachments from one card!
Ben, you are my favourite!
This is an awesome tool. You wouldn’t happen to have open sourced this have you? Would love to use this as a basis for learning/creating own tools.
Hi Macario, I don’t have it set up quite right yet to properly open source but may do soon!
If you do not find the time, to set up open sourcing it… I would do it for you… 🙂
This is amazing. Thank you so much for creating this time saver. I hope Trello buys this from you to make it a standard feature.
The trello_attachment_dowloader you made is really nice. I can download all the images at once now. But i notice that the script skips all the text files. Can the script be improved so that it can download every attachement at once?
Hi Zebaz, could you post the extract of a card to test (make sure it doesn’t have sensitive attachments)
Hi Zebaz, Can you try running again and post the process identifier that appears at the top of the page so I can have a look for you.
Hey there,
for me it just says “Downloading Now… 267 attachments detected”
Seems to nothing happen after that.
Hi Luke, Can you try running again and post the process identifier so I can have a look for you.
Great tool but has some problems with encoding turkish characters.
” UnicodeEncodeError: ‘ascii’ codec can’t encode character u’\u015f’ in position 16: ordinal not in range(128) Error Obtaining Zip File – Something went wrong!
Hi ben – love your tool. I have three boards and the JSON payload for two of them works fine but the third only detects 6 attachments when theres several hundred. Happy to send you the JSON via email to take a look if you like?
Hi Shane, sure thing will send you a note.
That, my friend, is a wonderful bit of work! Thank you very much indeed. Excellent tool.
This is genius. thank you so much!
Great! so helpful thanks
Thanks Ben! I just used this and it’s great! Saves me at least 10 minutes. I think you should approach trello to add this as a function..
You sir, are a lifesaver.
Don’t know and i don’t want to know what access to my cards you’ll now have but thank you nonetheless you just saved me some serious time!
No access except what is downloaded so that you can get hold of attachments and that’s all deleted within 24 hours.
Thanks Ben … much appreciated, awesome tool.
Thank you very much for this tool. You are great!
Thank you so much!
If you need extra security, we recommend using Google Drive for attachments. You can attach files from Google Drive directly to Trello and specify fine-grained access to the file via the Google Drive interface.
thanks, really nice to reduce the time to download 60 attachment 😛
Hello Ben.
Your downloader is s great Trello tool! Use it really often. Very helpful!.
Currently I have problems with the tool – is that problem local (for me) or is it a general issue?
Hi Gus, I haven’t had any other reports of issues but send me an email to webmaster@xiat.net with details of your issue and I will take a look.
Hi Ben, Thank you so much for this tool. It is really great. I am interested in having this built for myself in case yours ever goes down. I know nothing about programming.
Can you tell me what I should be looking for or asking for in a programmer? You can send me an email if you like. Thanks
Hi Frank, for sure! Will send you an email.
This is literally the best thing in the world
Amazing tool! You saved my day!
Awesome Ben—you’re the best!
Your tool doesn’t recognise all the attachment files.
My board has multiple cards, and each card contains a png file and an eps file, but your tool only recognises the png files.
Can you send me the ID at the top of the transfer to webmaster@bendellar.com and I’ll have a look
Hi Ben
Thank you!
It saved me a lot of work when I needed to backup everything I had in Trello before closing my account!
Worked with no problems at all
Thankyou so much for one of the most useful tools on the internet. Devastated it’s no longer working… Let’s hope Atlassian get their act together and give us this capability. Will have to move to another platform without this now….
Sorry that Trello took steps to shut you down, your tool was amazing
Hello, I can see your script has stopped working so I wrote my simplified version in javascript that runs from the developer console. The code is available on github (trello-save-attachments).
this is really very useful.
I cannot explain why but this process never stopped working on our Trello. We were shocked when the website disappeared. But we understood the reason why. It there any way we could get access to the same process you had created. We would also be happy to make it pubilc use on a webpage again if that was agreeable.
